About Keep California Green and Golden, Inc.

Welcome to Keep California Green and Golden (KCGG), a passionate nonprofit founded by Paisley Robles, a rising senior at Palo Alto High School. Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to restore and preserve the breathtaking beauty of our home state, one piece of trash at a time.

Beyond the Bins: Our Blog & Environmental Stewardship

Our commitment extends beyond physical cleanups. "The Golden State Cleanup: A California Environmental Initiative" blog serves as a vital extension of our mission. Through weekly posts, we delve into:

  • The "Why": Exposing the hidden dangers of pollution to our ecosystems, wildlife, and human health, with a specific focus on the unique challenges facing California's baylands and coastal areas.

  • The "How": Providing actionable insights, safety tips, and practical advice for individuals to engage in environmental stewardship in their own neighborhoods.

  • Inspiring Stories: Celebrating the collective effort, highlighting volunteer heroes, and showcasing the positive impact we're making together.

We believe that by educating, inspiring, and empowering, we can foster a deeper connection to our environment and cultivate a lasting culture of responsibility.

Our Mission: Actionable Impact

We are dedicated to making this vision a reality through direct, measurable action. Our core goal is to remove 2 metric tons of trash each month – totaling an ambitious 24 metric tons every year – from California's most vulnerable and beloved natural areas. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically Palo Alto, we mobilize community members across the state to tackle this challenge head-on.

We achieve this through:

  • Regular Cleanup Days: We host organized cleanup events every other weekend throughout the year, bringing together volunteers from all walks of life to make a tangible difference.

  • Targeted Efforts: We prioritize cleanups in ecologically sensitive areas like our baylands and coastlines, where pollution has the most significant environmental impact.

  • Community Engagement: We believe that collective action is powerful. We empower individuals, families, and groups to join us in protecting their local environments.

Our Vision: A Pristine Golden State

California is renowned for its diverse and stunning natural landscapes, from the majestic redwoods to the vibrant deserts, and crucially, our vital baylands and precious coastal regions. These areas are not just scenic backdrops; they are critical ecosystems, home to unique wildlife, and essential to the health and well-being of our communities. Unfortunately, pollution threatens these treasures daily.
